My primary objective in training young scientists is to help my students become creative and critical thinkers, eager to ask innovative questions about the natural world. I work to develop student confidence, to appreciate and learn from the diverse perspectives of peers, and to build the skills to ask and answer ambitious scientific questions. I maintain close working relationships with everyone in the lab while expecting PhD candidates to take ownership and intellectual leadership of their projects. Importantly, **a focus on small mammals is not necessary to join the lab!** ---

Prospective Graduate Students

If you are interested in joining the lab as a PhD student, please send an email that includes the following five items:

  1. Your academic, work, and research background
  2. The research questions you are most excited to pursue
  3. Your motivation for pursuing a graduate degree and your career goals
  4. Why you want to join this specific lab and department
  5. A current CV

The OSU Department of Integrative Biology application deadline is December 15th. Graduate student support typically comes through teaching and research assistantships. I strongly encourage prospective students to pursue the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship either prior to arrival or during their first year.

Prospective Postdoctoral Researchers

Interested candidates should contact me directly to discuss available positions and potential funding mechanisms.

Undergraduate Researchers

We usually have opportunities for undergraduates through honors research projects, work-study positions, and on a volunteer basis. If you are an OSU undergraduate interested in joining the lab, please send an email introducing yourself and describing your interests.
